You want to know what to do with your life, right? I mean what you really want to do, to follow your passion. But what is your passion actually? I’m pretty sure your passion isn’t washing dishes. If so, cool, I wish you all the luck in the world.
For those who don’t want to wash dishes try this. Just answer this one simple question:
“Suppose you have all the money in the world (aka, money is not a limiting factor) and you have respectively one more year to live. What would you do?”
Give yourself some time – more than five minutes – to answer this question, because it is definitely worth it. The energy that was unlocked when I found an answer to this question was incredible! My life has not been the same since. In all the good ways.
When you find an answer to this question you will:
- Have a purpose in life
- Enjoy every single day to the max
- Be great at anything you do (even if it’s washing dishes)
- Have all the energy in the world
- Come to trust your intuition
Some things to keep in mind
If you are anything like me (and I know you are) the answer won’t come to you straight away. It takes some time before the question fully settles in your subconscious. Ask yourself the question repeatedly on a daily basis. If you struggle with this or forget the question just put some reminders in obvious places like your phone, sticky note in your car or on your mirror.
The other important thing to keep in mind is to let go of logic. When you want to solve an algebra problem logic is very useful, but not when it comes to matters of the heart. Despite what society teaches us, finding your passion goes beyond reasoning. Reason is not your friend here! Instead, feel, listen.
Also be open to anything. Give every idea and feeling a chance, because even the (seemingly) most insignificant ones might hold the answer.
It took me almost two months of doing nothing much but trying to find an answer. The answer came when I let go of logic completely. Your mind wants to help by making sense of it all, but it is only in your way by doing so.
Your answer is your answer, nobody else can give it to you. Look inward to find it.
